COMMUNICATIONS (all year)
Do you want to learn more about the IB program at DMHS? Join the Communication Committee! Be involved in sending out emails, updating documents, helping with senior bios for the Recognition Event, and more. We are in need of a historian to compile a history of the 10 years plus of the program, some photographers/videographers to help take and collect pictures of our amazing kids and all they do, and parents to help spread the word to the upcoming 8th graders about how the IB program can benefit them. The website is not that hard to learn (really! if you can manage Word, you can do this) and we could use some help there as well. Several volunteers are needed.
.
8th grade coordinator (Fall)
The IBPA provides volunteers to deliver flyers to the various public and private middle schools to inform eighth graders about the IB program. A volunteer is needed to coordinate this effort and could also contact the middle schools to publicize the 8th grade information night through the various PTO websites. 3-4 volunteers are needed to help distribute the flyers to the middle schools.
.
IB PROGRAM SUPPORT (throughout the year)
x
Fundraising (all year)
This committee’s responsibilities include overseeing current fund raising efforts such as the Barnes and Noble book fair and exploring new options to raise money for the IB program. They also recommend to the Executive Board where the funds would be best spent in support of the International Baccalaureate program. They then purchase and gift the approved purchases to the school.
We need 2-3 people who are willing to find in-kind gifts from local companies to provide refreshments for our Recognition Event, to print our Recognition Event invitations, etc. We also need 1-2 people who are interested in looking for corporate donations to pay for more expensive teacher requested items and identifying corporate matching fund programs.
.
IB exams – proctoring (March and May)
The IBPA provides parent volunteers to help proctor the IB exams. About 25-35 people are needed to help teachers and administrators proctor the IB exams given in the Spring. It is a wonderful way to familiarize oneself with the exam process. Parents may not proctor tests that their children are taking, so we especially encourage the parents of freshmen and sophomores to fill this need. Volunteers will be contacted when the exact schedule of the exams becomes available, usually about a month before the exams are to be given.
.
HOSPITALITY (throughout the year)
Teacher appreciation breakfasts (September, November, January, March, May)
The IBPA provides refreshments for five of the IB teacher meetings during the year. Several volunteers are needed to coordinate delivery and set up for the breakfast events.
.
International Dinners (throughout the year)
These are the dinner event fundraisers at restaurants, where a portion of the sales are donated to the IBPA.
x
IB RECOGNITION EVENT (April/May)
This honors our outstanding students, faculty, and administration of the DMHS IB program. As you might imagine, many volunteers work to make this evening a success. Various subcommittees will be formed and we will send you more information on how you can help.
