Welcome IB Community

to the 2011-2012 School Year

The International Baccalaureate Parent Association (IBPA) welcomes all families whose students are enrolled in the pre‐Diploma and IB Diploma Program at Desert Mountain High School.

The IBPA has four goals:

• To inform the IB community about the IB program at DMHS through emails, our web site, and Parent Education Meetings

• To support the IB program through fundraising, teacher appreciation events and proctoring of IB exams in April and May

• To connect the IB community informally by hosting social events

• To recognize students, teachers and administrators at the Recognition Event held in May.

The mission of the IBPA is accomplished by an all-volunteer work force.  There are many opportunities to contribute to the IBPA that in many cases involve the commitment of one or two days.  If you are interested please contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

The IBPA sponsors this website, which is an invaluable source for all kinds of information and answers about the IB program and the IBPA.  It is updated regularly with current IB events.  Please take advantage of its contents and sign up for informational emails.

Parent Education Meetings are held several times each year.  These are excellent opportunities to hear from our administrators and teachers, meet the IBPA Executive Board and get your questions answered. Our first IBPA Parent Education Meeting will be held on Monday, September 19 at 6:30 pm in the DMHS auditorium.

Every year the IBPA works with the Desert Mountain IB faculty and administration to gift equipment and instructional materials intended to enhance the IB program.  Our recent Barnes and Noble bookfair raised $2,105.44 that will go to support the IB program.  Thanks to everyone who participated in the bookfair!

All of us who serve this year on the IBPA Board look forward towards working on the continuing success of the IB program.  Look for emails from IBPA News about upcoming programs, our volunteer tasks and opportunities to get to know one another. Our first get together will be our Quarterly Coffee on Thursday, September 1 at 9:30 am at the Coffee Plantation on Frank Lloyd Wright at 100th Street.
